Pandemic of Unconsciousness
During the past year, many friends experienced conflicts in their relationships when the topic of management and strategy of the latest pandemic came up.
Some resorted to outsourcing their thinking to “the” experts. Others have become “experts” themselves, often preaching to the biggest audience. Amidst such confusion, “real” experts have stopped working scientifically and instead simply focused on producing a binary outcome of merely two points of view, defining humans as either a 0 or a 1, depending on where their livelihoods come from or what their personal convictions and beliefs are.
But humans are far more complex than Zero’s and One’s and binary outcomes are driven by religious faith, not by actual scientific exploration. No matter which side, focusing on one of only two possible outcomes isn’t healthy for our individual or collective evolution, if anything, it de-volutionizes our life, minimizes our being, and erases our historical accomplishments.
“Truth does not mind being questioned. A lie does not like being challenged.”
Truth is a goal never fully found, its nature is elusive and a constant discovery in progress. By definition the views along the way change. Who then can truly say what’s right or wrong for one’s self or the other? How come there shall be only two possible outcomes for billions of people?
A comment by an old friend made me realize that in today’s world, I genuinely miss those folks who (whatever position they may have taken during the past two years) still make a conscious effort to pursue life with a naturally adaptive, curious and open mind. It’s a sign of intelligence, of evolution, and, ultimately supports our collective conscious development.
“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” ― Stephen Hawking
To me this is a pandemic of our collective loss of consciousness, and diminished cognitive ability to dissect opinions from facts of matter and matters of fact. It’s a spiritual crisis of sorts. If our capacity to change our point of view and empathetically understand other people’s positions continues to withdraw, then the age of enlightenment has indeed long passed.
If in today’s world you’re neither a 0 nor a 1, you can be quite lost. But you’re not alone. You’re the future.
We need people who can build bridges between binary points of view, who understand that each effort to divide and conquer is merely of a temporary nature and that eventually all will deal with each other once again amicably, be it just for trade and commerce.
Conformity isn't the right thing either. Uniting binary points of view needs more diversity, as without differences, there is nothing to "Union". If we don’t find other numbers than 0 and 1 to redefine ourselves, we could wake up amidst a massive global conflict, wondering how we got there.
Stubbornness feeds no one but our ego’s memory. It’s time to wake up and find change in the way we look at things.
