Unfortunately over the last few decades we have seen a massive global decline nearly halving wild bee populations, raising alarm for our overall food ecosystem.

Bees are a true marvel in creation and could quite literally be considered as flying supercomputers where one might rightfully ask: who programmed these incredible creatures with an almost evolutionary intelligence?

No wonder bees have fascinated humans throughout history, so much so that some of the first coins in the world even had bee symbols on them:

Indeed there are many other amazing aspects about bees that we’re hardly aware of, for instance did you know that

• honey contains a substance that helps your brain work better?

• one spoon of honey is enough to sustain human life for 24 hours?

• bees saved people from starvation?

In fact, honey was so significant to the Ancient Egyptians that it was used as currency and to pay taxes.

More than just Honey!

Honey is obviously one of the most precious and well known things bees produce. However what’s lesser known is that it’s filled with live enzymes.

Unfortunately these enzymes die when they come in contact with metal. So the best way to eat honey is actually with a wooden spoon, or if you can't find one, use plastic.

The benefits of honey are well known, but what actually happens to our bodies when we start eating honey?

Honey isn’t the only quality product bees bring about. Did you know that propolis is one of the most powerful natural antibiotics? Or have you heard of “Royal Jelly”?

Interestingly enough, queen bees and worker bees are genetically identical organisms and they only become two different life forms because the queen get to eat this “royal jelly”.

The wax bees produce is also special. Not just in the form of natural candles but also shaped into “beeswax cloths” which have antibacterial properties to keep your food fresher for longer. It’s perfect for cheese, bread, sliced fruit or vegetables.

And have you heard of the benefits of Bee Pollen?

Finally the item most people are afraid of (and some even have to fear for their lives from) — delivered right by the sting of the bee itself: its venom.

Bee venom is a complex mixture of different proteins. The main ingredient is called “Melittin” which protects the cells, has a highly anti-inflammatory effect and is 100 times stronger than cortisone.

Scientists discovered that this component was able to kill cancer cells in just 60 minutes1 by penetrating the surface of the cell or the plasma membrane, forming holes or pores, causing the cell to die. The researchers also found that melittin blocks key messaging or signaling pathways that allow cancer cells to communicate with each other to multiply and grow.

Bee venom therapy has been a common folk remedy for treating arthritis, back pain and rheumatism for over 3,000 years in China, where bee stings are thought to repair damaged cells, stave off bacteria and ease inflammation. I remember my great grandmother who was happy to be stung by bees and rejoiced having been delivered a free dose of the therapy. She lived well into her 90ties.

Is this perhaps also why beekeepers live longer than most of us?2

Heavenly Architects living in Hell

Most people are aware that pesticides3 and fungicides4 have detrimental effects on bee populations as such chemicals harm them either directly or indirectly by damaging their food sources.

But it’s not only chemicals which harm the bees. Our modern and ultra-connected way of life (with massive exposure to radiation from cell towers, wifi, etc.) could cause entire bee colonies to collapse5.

Luckily there are solutions which could help the bees, for instance by placing shungite nuggets and powders on beehives.

Shungite is a very ancient material, often used in relation to improving water quality and to manage 5G and other forms of wireless radiation. Shungite contains a special form of carbon (“C60”) and it seems that bees like its effects a lot:

But also if you simply consider using bee bricks instead of a standard brick or block in construction, you could help create a habitat for solitary bees, promoting biodiversity.

Bees themselves really are quite the incredible architects. Above left shows one of the world's largest honeycombs harvested by the Kattunayakan tribal people who live in the forests of the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve in South India and the center image indicates how tropical stingless bees build honeycombs in spiraling, multi-terraced shapes using the same mathematical model which explains how crystals grow. Given how bees build their nests, they also have a deep impact on the structure of the soil itself.

Unexpected Healing

If you’ve read my posts around frequencies and the magic of resonance, you know that there are inherent powers in sound, music and vibration which can help us heal more holistically and sometimes with the most unexpected results.

Meet the soothing healing frequencies of bees, which are said to have the ability to cure Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) over the course of a few months when being exposed to the sound of bee hives regularly.

There is also a so-called “mad honey” which is reported to have helped beat 1,000 men at war. This hallucinogenic substance is produced when bees pollinate rhododendron flowers in the remote mountainside towns of the Black Sea region.

The dark, reddish, “mad honey,”6 known as deli bal in Turkey, contains an ingredient from rhododendron nectar called grayanotoxin — a natural neurotoxin that, even in small quantities, brings on light-headedness and sometimes, hallucinations. In the 1700s, the Black Sea region traded this potent produce with Europe, where the honey was infused with drinks to give boozers a greater high than alcohol could deliver.

Is this the reason why certain organizations have an interest in mass killing bees?7

Bees, the Weather, Electricity and Air Quality

Did you know that swarming bees generate shocking amounts of electricity that can potentially impact the weather? A recent study by researchers at the University of Bristol has shown that bees produce electricity equivalent to thunderstorms.8

Bees now also “work” at the Bologna airport in Italy. One hundred thousand bees were “hired” and distributed within a radius of 7 kilometers all around the airport to monitor the air quality. Housed in eight hives located in four strategic points around the airport, their “duties” include going about their usual business such as pollinating plants and producing honey which researchers take for sampling. If they find any bad substances in it, they will start working on recommendations to improve air quality.

But now the bees need us. Just like this wonderful woman helps them, more of us could play part in helping the bees so they can help us. You don’t have to become a beekeeper yourself, just leaving some shungite dust or certain types of mushroom mycelium laying around for the bees to pick it up could be of great service to the bees, humanity and nature at large.

Benefits of Becoming a Beekeeper

If you do have an interest in becoming a beekeeper, rest assured it’s one of the most beneficial, interesting and rewarding skills you could possibly acquire.

Whether you do it just for the benefit of nature (e.g. in the form of a log hive as described in the below video), or for making your own honey, it’s definitely worth the time and effort.

Challenging Your Identity = Deepening Your Purpose

Knowing what or who you are can make a big difference in if and how you do things or perceive their meaning to be.

As a child I sometimes felt a bit lost and different from the rest of the group, often playing with either elder outliers and/or looking after the next generation. I had a strong interest in classical music, yet at the same time embraced the modern world of computers, cell phones and other forms of technology with great esteem.

Whilst it does happen, it isn’t normally the case that someone who is deeply into an ancient art or music equally loves the progress of technology which -quite frankly- often is detrimental to letting a time far gone by freely unfold within one’s self.

This constant battle between different forms of expression continued in my career — I studied music, but even during the first semester I had already started two IT related companies.

So I went on and became an entrepreneur, but even in that role, I never truly “succeeded” in becoming a "typical” business man. I’d rather use my entrepreneurial journey to deepen my interest in philosophy, by practically applying the daily lessons I was exposed to in my businesses to the world at large.

No One Size Fits All

I should have realized that there is no “one size fits all” approach for me early on, when one of my music teachers at university introduced me to a special type of personality test. I’ve covered this unique approach at the end of the following article:

Essentially the sound of a human voice is as unique as a fingerprint and composed of a range of tones reflecting the dispositions, talents and patterns of behavior in an individual's voice pattern. Determining the ground note is a procedure comprising various steps (including testing the speaking voice and a personality analysis).

Under normal circumstances a clear ground note can be determined, but in my case it appeared as if two notes were both dominant enough in the potential analysis to perhaps already indicate at a young age that Polymathic disposition.

Attitude vs. Interests

Whilst I realized there is an entire ocean of interests to explore with subjects to learn and practise to get relevant experiences in different fields, I never saw myself as a “jack of all trades — master of none” type of guy. Instead I wanted to become a master of all, which brings me to why I finally ended up accepting myself as a Polymath.

The concept of the “Universal Human” (aka “Polymath”)2 is probably as old as philosophy itself. Polymaths include the great scholars and thinkers of the Renaissance and Enlightenment, who excelled at several fields in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the arts. Personally I had always held the ideal of “becoming a universal human” in my heart, before even knowing what a Polymath is.

I was first called a Polymath by one of my panelists during a family office conference in Dubai after she had first listened to my bio during the introduction and then later had analyzed how we both managed to connect the dots during a conversation on stage across a wide variety of subjects. This is when I started to give more serious consideration to this title and whether I would be able to fill it.

The responsibilities associated with taking on this title to me are immense, especially as those who call themselves “Polymath” are voluntarily condemned to a lifelong journey of learning, unlearning, and, relearning, which -if taken seriously- guarantees regular shock treatments of one’s ego, therefore requiring a strong sense of identity, yet an open mind, in the first place.

Realizing there is no end to knowledge and therefore no final goal that can be achieved tends to make the mind restless at first, but eventually (and as the waves quiet down) allows one to connect different streams of knowledge in life which otherwise would have remained disjointed — all the reward a real Polymath needs.

Becoming a Polymath

In my opinion we’re all Polymaths, just to a lesser or greater degree. In fact, I think it isn’t something we can choose NOT to be, for:

My wake up call on stage caused me to get serious about the subject at large. So I studied both the old masters as well as more recent ones3 and met with European Philosopher Dr. phil. Christoph Quarch4, who essentially opened my mind to the ancient form of polymathy with the launch of the Third Platonic Academy5, which I attended and contributed to during its foundation stage.

In the year 386 BC, Plato had founded the first academy in a garden near Athens. His example was followed by the second academy in Florence during the Renaissance period. Most of the members were of a Polymathic nature and able to connect life’s dots and express its knowledge and beauty in many forms.

Inspired, I committed myself to taking on new opportunities and aspired bring them to perfection. Some were closer to my original degree in music (for instance composition, although I had never composed anything in my life before), other areas included health, technology, intellectual property, video editing, and many more.

After acquiring multiple new skills well enough (so that someone with a professional degree in those fields not knowing my background could consider me a peer) and adding them to my repertoire, I finally had the confidence and courage to associate myself with this term and fully embrace its meaning.

In the process I met others who certainly have much better earned the title already, but unfortunately these incredibly gifted individuals are often very private and fully dedicated to realizing a lifelong journey of infinite learning about themselves and the universe at large.

Polymaths are Everywhere…

...and chances are you are one of them, which is why I’ll end this article with one of the most intelligent humans to live: William James Sidis. 6

At only 18 months old he could read. At 5 years old he could calculate dates of any day 10,000 years in the past or present. He went to Harvard at 11 and spoke 25 languages. His IQ7 was 260, about 100 more than that of Einstein.

But have you heard of him before? Do you think he was able to truly unfold his talents for the benefit of a world that doesn't embrace universal students of life but instead celebrates promoting its laser focused teachers?

It turns out many real geniuses and/or genuine generalists often have a hard time fitting into this world. Intelligence makes lonely and the only safety mechanism is to stay either private and/or quiet.

But our current times need YOU. The problems we've created for ourselves by narrow thinking and by throwing more technology at them are only going to accelerate with the advent of “man made” intelligence (i.e. "A.I.").

More than ever the world now needs universal humans who can truly connect the dots without being just a jack of all trades (yet master of none) and without being simply narrow minded career animals (-sorry- call it "laser focused" if that sounds better to you) — for we cannot solve the issues we’re confronting ourselves with using the same mindset that got us here in the first place.

Therefore I’m grateful to see more and more "normal" people come out with extraordinary skills and abilities they've quietly honed in private by which they're now able to better connect the dots8 for future generations to come.

We all have our own Life’s Season’s. Sometimes it’s summer and spring, but eventually we all hit a hard winter. Next time you question your “self”, your aims, goals, etc. — consider taking the way of the Polymath confidently and just don’t stop asking the question “why”?

It’s quintessential to our evolution and in the interest and progress of the universal human family at large. We owe it to ourselves asking “why” more often. Whether we end up becoming geniuses or not, either way it’ll help raise the next generation with a broader mind, better equipped to connect the dots eventually.

The process of photosynthesis, without which there would be no plants on earth, is the most prominent mechanism of how light facilitates life. The human body also requires natural sunlight and its rhythm to function properly. The effects of light on the endogenous production of vitamin D and melatonin are well known, and the circadian rhythm is crucial for the release of hormones, which in turn decisively influences our health and well-being.

The increasing understanding of the mechanisms that underlie the beneficial effects of light on the human body has led to the development of new solutions which can apply therapeutic dosages of light in medical clinics and at home.

Examples include devices for laser acupuncture, tinnitus, cold sores, skin disorders (i.e. acne, eczema, smaller scars and wounds), hayfever, and many more.

Laser Light Bands

There has also been a surge of so-called “laser light bands” which you can wear similar to a watch. EndoLight provides light irradiation of the circulating blood via the arteries in the wrist for an effect on the entire body and is ideally used daily for 30 minutes.

On a systemic level, each wavelength/color exerts its own benefits:

• When red and infrared laser light is absorbed by Cytochrome-C-Oxidase at complex IV of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, it stimulates ATP production leading to increased energy and improvement of cardiac measures and circulation. It is also able to support neuronal functions in the CNS and improve immune defenses through its actions on NK, T-helper, and T-suppressor cells.

• When blue laser light is introduced into the bloodstream, it is readily absorbed by porphyrins and hemoglobin and improves microcirculation and perfusion of oxygen uptake by increasing nitric oxide (NO) production. Furthermore, it activates telomerase, significantly slowing the degradation of telomeres which play a role in longevity and “slow-aging” whilst having very beneficial anti inflammation effects. It also increases the release of hemoglobin-nitric oxide (hBNO) and destroys a wide range of bacteria in the blood.

• When green laser light is introduced into the bloodstream, it binds to hemoglobin and increases oxygen supply by detaching adhesive hemoglobin from the vessel walls. It stimulates sodium-potassium-ATPase of the erythrocyte membrane while stimulating the mitochondria (cytochrome-c-reductase at complex III). Green light also leads to steric conformation change of hemoglobin molecules with a 20% increased uptake of oxygen and increased ATP production by approximately 30%.

• Yellow laser light improves serotonin and vitamin D metabolism. It also has anti-depressive and digestive effects. In the context of photodynamic therapies, it is effective for treating infectious diseases.

The light-sensitive receptors in our cells absorb the different wavelengths of light and our body uses this light to produce energy (ATP), strengthen the immune system, improve blood circulation and oxygenation, decrease inflammations, and promote other beneficial processes.

Typical medical indications of photobiomodulation therapy include internal diseases (diabetes, chronic liver and kidney diseases), metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, (chronic) inflammation, autoimmune diseases, weakened immune system, prevention and better-aging, depression, fatigue syndrome and burn-out, concentration disorders as well as general performance increase and better regeneration after exercise.

Photosensitive Food Supplements

Turns out these receipts are often coated in Bisphenol A, or “BPA”, a hazardous environmental toxin. 

"Bisphenols are endocrine-disrupting chemicals that mimic hormones such as estrogen and thyroid hormone. Studies have shown that there is an association between elevated levels of BPA detected in human urine and a number of health problems, including increased risk of miscarriages and premature birth and prostate cancer." explains Nancy L. Wayne, PhD, professor at the UCLA School of Medicine's Department of Physiology.

I didn’t know that there's more BPA in a single thermal paper receipt than the total amount that would leach out from a polycarbonate water bottle used for many years.

Neither did I know that the skin absorption of BPA leads to prolonged exposure when compared to dietary absorption (meaning, your body continues absorbing the chemical long after you've thrown away the receipt).

But how do you know which materials or objects are covered with poisonous chemicals, harmful toxins, or, perhaps even unwanted nano-tech entering our bodies simply by touch?

Right now we don’t. Yet the technologies to detect the different components which are disturbing our biological systems are quite mature for many decades and could easily help us identify what’s safe to touch and where we’d better put our gloves on.

Using on-site spectroscopy in combination with real-time backend data analytics would enable us to constantly upgrade our knowledge of harmful toxic substances and enable us to analyze potential threats if, where, and when they come along.

That’s why I supported the Crowdfunding Campaign of Vispek’s Magic Pencil:

I got mine last week and am happy with the initial results, but the real power for my particular use case comes only once we’re able to start identifying BPA and other compounds e.g. by use of their developer license.

This a great opportunity for someone to get on top of this and share some visibility into an otherwise invisible world which is poisoning people unknowingly globally on a daily basis. Surely there would be a market for a product which told you by a simple few seconds scan: “safe to touch”.

After publishing this post, I came across another interesting product — a “fruit and vegetable cleanliness detector”:

The principle is simple. Vegetables or fruit should be cleaned of dirt and placed in a bowl of water. After 2 to 3 minutes, the device is put there as well and will tell you how dirty the water is with pesticides and the color of the indicator will tell you whether you need to rinse the food to get rid of pesticide residue. If this one is already there, hopefully something for BPA and other toxins can be found soon.

Its concentrated light technology requires no soil tillage and thus prevents root damage. With 100% solar operation, the robot is able to work day and night in different terrains, weather conditions and completely autonomously.

Several years ago I purchased a smaller version for our private garden, the Tertill:

It wasn’t as AI powered as the Earth Rover, but it did a fine job reducing our work load on the newly planted vegetable garden!

Using autonomous robots to deal with weeds and reduce the need for chemicals and heavy machinery isn’t new. In 2017, The Small Robot Company, a startup from the South of England, launched three robots — named Tom, Dick and Harry — to find and zap weeds with electricity before planting seeds in the cleared soil. With it, farmers could reduce costs by 40% and chemical usage by up to 95%.

If you’re like me and are thinking deeply about how to grow your own food in future, you should take a look at FarmBot. It’s by far the most professional solution I’ve seen thus far which can still quite easily be operated for private food production:

It’s also very comprehensive and has a garden planning tool etc. as part of the package.

The AquaShield crowd sourced campaign on Kickstarter was also an interesting project for hydrophonic but, sadly their 2.0 version product launch of the AquaShield 2.0 has stalled and it’s currently not clear, if or when it will finally see the light of day:

I liked their approach as it was highly customizable and could be used both for indoor growth of herbs and vegetables as well as for outdoor gardens.

After all, the concept as such sounds quite straight-forward:

Now I have no idea of this Creative Society, what they stand for and why, etc. - but the video does a good job in explaining most of the core components needed to eventually realize matter replication of at least “non living” things:

An MVP (Minimum Viable Product) of the technology can already be found on the market today in the form of so-called “Beverage molecular printing” machines, where beverages are directly printed from particles.

But research into the elementary particles, their number and arrangements, proper combination of atoms and their (replicable) resulting molecular structure, properties and order will have to be ongoing. Perhaps one day we’ll find out that everything is made of the same substance — and just vibrates at different rates?

Whilst I can imagine that the magnetic power in the devices could have the capacity to rearrange the particles of the items you put in it the recycler or want to be manifested through the replicator, I cannot believe this works on “living” things, such as the example with the lobster. Perhaps a “dead” material could be “printed” which has a texture and taste similar to that of lobster meat, but experimentation with this type of technology could also prove to be dangerous as we simply don’t know enough about the subtle fields accompanying physical matter.

We could do much better in this subject though if science would make an effort to understand Rupert Sheldrake’s research into Morphogenetic Fields. Especially when it comes to biology (in my opinion) it’s the missing link between memory, substance and form – certainly in relation to the “creation”, development and re-inclusion of matter as we know it.

One of the main reasons projected to be a threat for male fertility is the ever increasing use of plastics, specifically microplastics.

I think there is a great market opportunity to build products and solutions which focus around microplastic filters, as for instance Gulp is doing on Indiegogo:

Surely, there would be other ideas to filter microplastics out of the environment, our drinking water, the atmosphere and out of our human bodies as such.

They could well be accompanied by interesting business opportunities, so let’s keep our eyes and minds open.

There are no buttons and knobs. However, it does have a massive 98-inch curved screen which integrates the dashboard and the center console. Hyperion hasn't revealed how much the XP-1 will cost but it sure ain’t gonna be cheap.
